Little Italy

LITTLE ITALY AT A GLANCE

Little Italy is one of the most picturesque districts in Toronto, where authentic Italian atmosphere envelops you with each step. With its vibrant array of trattorias, cosy cafes, restaurants and street festivals, this lovely neighbourhood offers elegance and down-home comforts in equal measure.

Little Italy is  home to the largest Italian diaspora in Canada. Secondly, this district is unofficial centre of Italian culture in the country. It is home to the world’s only Italian Walk of Fame, modelled after the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Walk of Fame honours both local dignitaries and foreign celebrities, such as Franco Nero, Dean Martin, Johnny Lombardi and many others.  With its awesome location in the core of Toronto, Little Italy is a convenient, delightful place to live. Additionally, with the walk score of 95 and the transit score of 98, Little Italy is 5th most walkable neighbourhood in Toronto.

Why do we love Little Italy?

It is a marvellous taste of Italy in Toronto.

Describe A Perfect Day in Little Italy

Usually I start my morning with a locally brewed cup of tasty espresso along with a fete biscotatte at the world-famous Café Diplomatico. Before the lunch, I would make sure to get a hike in at Bickford Park. That’s the time when I get an appetite and experiment with different delicious trattorias available at endless cafes in the streets of this charming area. Afterwards, I would go towards the Walk of Fame to snap some pictures, then pop into the Royal, one of the Italian-style cinemas, to have some laughs watching great old-school Italian comedies. The ending of the day would not be complete without tasting authentic Italian pizza or spaghetti at Napoli Centrale or grooving to funky jazz at the Orbit Room, which is among the best jazz venues in Toronto.

One Thing to Know about Living in Little Italy?

Little Italy’s inhabitants are very diverse. It is home to huge Latin-Canadian and Portuguese-Canadian community.
